Toyota Repair: vibration, spark plug wires, toyota corolla

Question
Dear Ted,
I am having a 91 Toyota Corolla, whenever I am driving in the downtown with a lot of traffic, I feel that the car is over heated although the indicator reaches the middle or sometimes slightly above the middle, and when I stop at traffic light, the car starts to vibrate until I move on then the vibration disappear until I stop again, one day last week I spent a lot of time in the traffic then I stopped at the traffic light the car vibrated a lot then the engine died and I waited for some time then I started the engine again, and I could continue my way, I don't feel that I am having that problem when I am accelerating on the highway.

Please help

Thank you

Answer
Hello, welcome to my expert page.
I believe there is an engine misfire causing the problem, since it is there mostly at idle I suggest that you have the engine compression checked to make sure there is no loss of compression in any of the cylinders, if this checks out ok I would suspect possible problems with the spark plugs or the spark plug wires.
