Toyota Repair: toyota clutch, clutch cable, toyota corolla

Question
1993 toyota corolla 175000 miles
Had clutch replaced a year ago.  Now clutch is
slipping. I can start in 4th gear.  Is there a cable adjustment that can be made?  Is this a solid clutch cable?
Why would clutch wear out so fast, first clutch lasted me about 160000 miles.
Thanks

Answer
Hello David, welcome to my expert page.
The clutch is operated by hydraulic cylinders, it is for the most part self adjusting, the only adjustment that can be made is at the master cylinder under the left side of the dash. look for the cylinder pushrod and loosen the two locknuts then you can turn the rod until there is about 1/8" free play at the pedal.
Don't really know why it wore out this fast except maybe inferior parts were used or there is an oil leak inside the bell housing, possibly an engine rear main seal or transmission input shaft seal, any oil on the friction surfaces will make the clutch slip.
