i am trying to remove the injector pump on an old leyland tractor i don't know what model it is but it's pretty old.so far i have removed the 4 bolts and injector lines the pump will move a little bit but thats all. do i need to remove the front cover of the motor to get it out of the timing gears ? or should it just pull out . regards wayne

Answer
I am not an expert on Leylands, but I do know that you will have to remove the drive gear from the pump shaft to get the pump off.  Some engines have a small access cover on the front timing gear cover of the engine, and on some you have to remove the whole timing gear cover.  Look for a small cover or plug on the front of the engine that would be in the area of the pump drive gear.  The gear does not have to be completely removed from the engine, just disconnected from the injection pump shaft, so the access hole is usually not very big.
