Tractor Repair: case 1070, case tractors, tractor salvage

Question
Hello we have 1970s 1070 case we were getting ready to sell. we repainted the whole tractor top to bottom. everything was working, running and operating very good. then tractor set out side for a few days drying paint. we decided to start it up and move for some pictures. drove it about 25-30 feet and started stering hard and we shut it off and realized it split the hydraulic filter canister right in half. we were told the releaf valve stuck, but not sure. Also we cant seem to find another canister. Would you know were to get one

thanks and have a blessed day

Answer
There is a relief valve in the remote valve above the pto on the back of the tractor.  The remote valve must be removed to get the relief valve out.  This relief  valve is for the 3 point hitch and remotes circuits.  If it has power brakes, there is also a relief valve in the brake control valve for the steering and brake circuits.   There are lots of tractor salvage yards in the country, somebody has to have some old Case tractors for parts.
