Tractor Repair: fuel injector pump, international harvester tractor, injection pumps

Question
I have e diesel injector pump leaking fuel around the housing where the tubing lines come off the pump and goes to the motor.  How can I repair it myself without risking damage to the pump?  This is a International Harvester tractor model 547 around 1974 model

Answer
There is no model 547, possibly you mean 574.  Anyway, I don't recommend trying to repair an injection pump yourself.  First of all, parts for injection pumps are sometimes not available to the general public and may be available only to a diesel injection repair shop.  (Depending on what kind of pump and what parts you need.)  Also, some pumps require special tools or procedures for repairing them, and depending on what must be taken apart, they may also require calibration after the repair.  I always recommend that a pump be sent to a diesel injection repair shop.  It may be a simple repair, but who knows until the pump is already apart.
