Tractor Repair: case maxxum, oil flow, maxxum

Question
i have a case maxxum 5140 and lately it will stop driving when you turn the steering unless you keep plenty of revs on.-what would be the cause?

Answer
most likely the hydraulic pump is worn they are very dear to buy new but there are a few breakers selling reconditioned ones in England (intertrac) and you should be able to get your one reconditioned by a rexroth agent they around the grand second hand reconditioned so if you can get yours reconditioned for around 500 go for it.the fact that the tractor needs to be revved up is a sure sign oil flow is low which means a worn pump
the pump is on the right hand side and isn't too hard to remove once you remove the back wheel first but the pump has a couple of parts at the very back is a control block in the middle is the 3 point lift spool so if your buying second hand and they ask for your pump in exchange find out what your getting so you can keep what you need
when you fitted the new pump you might need to make some small adjustments to the control block
