Tractor Repair: long 2510 injection pump timing, several letters, white smoke

Question
I removed the injection pump to be rebuilt.
While the pump was off the owner has moved the engine.
How do I time the injection pump to the engine.
With the inspection cover on the side of the pump removed I can see several letters, A, B, etc.
There are several marks on the timing gears.
It will only start on starting fluid but then it will run, but it blows white smoke like crazy.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Answer
If it starts you are not to far off. Put the engine on top dead center#1 and check the timing marks see if something is close and adjust your pump accordingly. I do not have access to those service manual's but you are just going to have to try and see what works.
