Tractor Repair: 430 case, diesel fuel, crankcase

Question
diesel fuel is getting into my crankcase and spurts out of the dipstick (oil). is it the seal on the fuel pump?  big job?

Answer
Hello,

There are 3 different types of 430's and they all have different fuel systems depending on serial number.  I don't think any of them use a mechanical lift pump between the tank and the injection pump.  A bad mechanical lift pump is a common cause, but that wouldn't apply to this model.  It is most likely a seal on the injection pump shaft.  The injection pump will have to be removed and new seals installed on the shaft.  This type of injection pump is not real hard to remove.
