Tractor Repair: 245 Case International 1986 Model, clutch adjustment, case international

Question
I have a 1986 245 Case International tractor with a 4 speed gear shift which includes reverse and an auxillary shift located on the left side of the housing that has a low, neutral, medium and high. For several weeks the auxillary has been hard to shift. It is now stuck in low and I can not get it out. Could this in anyway be a function of the clutch adjustment. The 1st, 2nd, 3rd & reverse work fine with the present clutch adjustment. Any ideas. Thanks.

Answer
Try to move the shifter when the engine is not running. If you still can not move it then it is probably seized from rust if it is stored outside. Or the linkage internally is bent. Not something that is going to fixed easily. You can check what is going on by draining the oil and removing the shift cover. You should be able to see the linkage and gear it slides on maybe something just fell off and you can put it back on. Hope this helps
