Tractor Repair: Case 1070 powershift, pressure guage, pilot valves

Question
Hi, we have a 1972 Case 1070 tractor with a powershift transmission. The front end loader moves very slowly in 1st and 2nd powershift speeds for about 10 seconds after letting out the clutch. In 3rd it lifts normal. Also the tractor won't move for 10 seconds if you start off uphill or with a heavy load behind. I got a pressure guage and checked the ports on the valve body. Ports c1, c2, c3, and c4 all pressured up to 180-200 psi eventually. Lube port was 65 psi. Ports c1 and c2 both slowly pressure up to 125 psi in about 10 seconds after letting out the clutch then suddenly pressure to 180-200 psi. In port c3 it does the same thing when shifting from 3rd to 2nd. I took the cover off the vlave body and the pilot valves all seem to move freely. Any idea what the problem might be?

Answer
Sounds to me that you have a leak in the c1 c2 pack. Apparently it is small enough that  the pump can overcome it. It could also be spool hanging up. Watch your lube pressure and see if it drops off when you are shifting if it stays the same then it is probably the spool hanging up. I will look for a follow up question when you check the lube pressure and will try to get more info on the spool and what to check.
