Tractor Repair: International 786 TA/clutch, torque amplifier, clutch pedal

Question
Hello Drew, I hope you can help me out. I have a International 786 that will only move slowly when put into any gear no matter how how much throttle I give. The Torque amplifier on the tractor does not seem to work either, no matter what position I put it into. The clutch was rebuilt by a tractor company near by and now the same company wants 3000 dollars more to fix the problem now. A mechanic came out and looked at it and said that its probably the TA, but usually the direct drive will still work if the TA fails(not in my case). I want to fix the tractor myself this time because 3000 dollars is a bit much, so I was hoping you could help me trouble shoot the problem making my life a bit simpler. Thank you.

Answer
The first thing that you need to do is check to make sure your clutch pedal has some free play. You should have at least an inch to an inch and a half free travel before you feel resistance. If you don't have enough you can adjust the linkage and it might help prolong a repair. If that doesn't work then both side of your TA are out,or your clutch is smoked. Either way it's going to have to be split.  Hope this helped
