Tractor Repair: 1952 ford 8n farm tractor, ford 8n tractor, pto shaft

Question
I recently bought a 1952 ford 8n tractor. It has a cap over the pto shaft.I removed the cap and noticed that some oil is coming out. There doesn't appear to be a seal.Is this normal?

Answer
Hello,

No, it's not normal.  There needs to be a seal.  To see a breakdown of the parts, go to newholland.com.  Select agriculture, then north america.  Click on parts and services, then click online search for parts.  Type in your model in the search box, then click search and select your model from the results.  You will be able to look at all the parts diagrams and get the part numbers so that you can get the correct seal.  D9NN703BB was the old Ford part number unless it changed to a New Holland number.
