Tractor Repair: Wiring problems, massey ferguson 135, delco remy

Question
I purchased a 1969 Massey Ferguson 135 (Pekins - 3 cylinder gasoline engine).  The previous owner replaced the generator with a Delco-Remy alternator. The large wire from the alternator goes to the ammeter.  Then from the ammeter a wire goes to the solenoid on the starter.  There is another wire that comes off another stud on the alternator and it goes into a clip that goes right back into the side of the alternator.

My problem is: the fuel gauge and the lights don't have any power going to them.  The fuel gauge use to get power from the voltage regulator (which is not being used now).  And the light switch use to have a wire coming off an inverter but now the inverter doesn't have any wires going to or from it.   My question is, how do I get the fuel guage and light to work?

Answer
Hello,

Why would there be an inverter?  An inverter is to change DC power to AC power to run small appliances that use house current.  You need to run a power feed wire to the light switch and fuel gauge from the ammeter.  Hook the wire to the opposite ammeter terminal of the one hooked to the alternator.  Put an inline fuse between the ammeter and the light switch.
