Question
hi i have a (nissan serena fx 20td auto)on the dash i have a warning light that has come on its an amber oil can with a squiggly line under it i also have the normall red oil light and that is fine goes out as soon as you start the car cant find out what this light is  any help would be great thanks

Answer
Dave,

That is the oil level sensor that is telling you the oil is low.  Now, if it is on you are either low on oil or the sender is defective.  Basically, the sensor is in the pan and when the oil drops below a certain point it lights up.  If the red pressure light goes out then you are ok for now.  But, I would check the oil level after about five minutes of shutting the engine off and be wure to be on a level surface.  If the oil level is fine then I would be looking at replacement of the sensor.  You are looking at about $45 dollars US for the replacement part.
