Tractor Repair: 806 international, torque amplifier, sprag clutch

Question
I just purchased an 806 international, for some reason no matter what gear or range I'm in when the tractor does not have to work (going down hill)it will disengage from the gear.  If i push the clutch in and wait 5-10 sec.  I will hear it reengage and away we go.   It acts as if someone has pushed the clutch in, there is no clunking or banging when it disengages from the gear.   I have already changed both hydraulic pumps, any suggestions?

Answer
Hello,

The sprag clutch in the torque amplifier may be bad.  Check if it does it in both hi and lo range of the TA.  If it only does it in lo, the TA sprag has definitely failed.  If it does it in both ranges, the TA shift linkage could be out of adjustment, or the hi clutch pack in the TA could also be bad.
