Tractor Repair: C Farmall clutch, farmall, clevis

Question
I have a belly mower on my C Farmall.  When I got finished mowing, I noticed smoke coming from underneath the tractor.  I could not get clutch to release to get it in gear.  I did not notice that the clutch was slipping while mowing.  Is there an adjustment I can make or do I need a new clutch?  Do I adjust the freeplay from under the tractor where I have taken the round cover off or somewhere else?  Thank you very much for your time!

Answer
Hello,

Adjust the length of the rod between the pedal and the arm on the side of the clutch housing by turning the clevis on the rod.  Adjust it until your have an inch to an inch and a half free travel on the pedal.  If it still doesn't work after that, then the tractor will have to be split and the clutch repaired or replaced.  Luckily, they are a very easy tractor to split so the labor bill shouldn't be too outrageous.
