Tractor Repair: case 885xl 1991, diesel pump, injection pumps

Question
hi

I have diesel getting into the engine oil.  I have blocked off pipe to heater plug.  I  got the diesel pump overhauled.  Is there any other way the diesel could be getting in.  I have drained engine oil and left the tractor for a week.  Diesel was in the sump when I checked.

any ideas greatly  appreciated.

Answer
Hello,

If there is a transfer pump on the side of the engine that pumps fuel from the tank to the filters and injection pump, that is the most likely cause.  Injection pumps will do it sometimes, and I have heard of rare instances of a bad injector causing it.  Don't know which pump you had worked on, transfer pump or injection pump, but those and the injectors are the only possibilities.
