Tractor Repair: Case 2390 3pt, control cables, signal circuit

Question
I just bought a case 2390. The 3pt hitch is very slow in raising up. What do I need to check or look for? The first time I drove the tractor it seemed to raise fine. Then I cleaned the cab out and moved the levers all over so I dont know if I mess with something? Where should the draft lever be at? It seems to go down fine but raising up it just creeps. All other hydraulics seem to work fine.

Answer
Hello,

Check the hitch control cables where they connect onto the hitch control valve.  Sometimes these come loose and come unhooked and sometimes the threaded end of the cable breaks off.  Also, try pulling one of the remote hydraulic levers to build pressure in the system while raising the hitch and see if that makes it raise faster.  If it does, then there is a bad signal check valve in the signal circuit to the PFC pump compensator.  If that doesn't help, then it could be a sticking spool in the hitch control valve. It shouldn't matter where the draft sensitivity lever is positioned.  The hitch should still raise at a normal speed, but may require moving the raise lever in larger increments before the hitch responds.
