Tractor Repair: Ford 5000 tractor injector pump, ford 5000 tractor, cav

Question
I have a 1969 5000 in excellent condition. However the injector pump has failed and need to be rebuilt or replaced.  I have everything loose on the pump that I can see or feel, but the pump still seems to be firmly attached.  There is not a single bolt that I can see still attached.  Is there a bolt on the back side next to the engine block?  I have the front inspection plate off and the gear drive bolts exposed and the big shaft nut in the center us exposed.  Help!  Thanks, Mel

Answer
Hello,

There are 2 types of pumps used on this model.  The CAV rotary and the Simms inline both have three nuts that hold the pump onto studs.  I believe on the CAV they are all easily visible, so i'm guessing that you have the Simms inline pump which has one attaching nut hidden between the pump and the engine block.  It takes a socket on a long extension so you can reach it from the rear of the pump.  A wobble drive extension or a swivel socket makes it easier to get the right angle.

                        Good luck,
