Tractor Repair: New holland 2002 33hp, petcock, new holland

Question
Ran out of fuel. Added fuel, cracked the line on the injector block, and it started. ran about 30 min. shut it off and now it won't start. Cracked the injector line again and no fuel comes when cranking the engine. plenty of fuel coming to the bowl. just barely a drip coming into the bowl with the petcock open. Is there a primer pump i can use instead of cranking the engine? What do you think i need to do to get it started? It is a great little tractor. Thanks Rob.

Answer
Hello,

I am not aware of a primer pump on it.  The tank is high enough above the engine that shouldn't need one.  If the fuel just barely drips into the bowl, it sounds like you mayhave a restriction in the fuel supply from the tank.  Remove the bowl and turn on the petcock to see if you get full flow or not.  If not, you may have to remove the petcock and blow it out with an air hose.  Also check the fuel tank vent to make sure it is venting properly.  If you get good flow with the bowl off, but not with it on, then the injection system has to have air trapped in it somewhere.  Make sure the tank is fairly full, loosen all the injection lines up at the injectors, not down on the block, and crank it until all air and foam are expelled and bubble free fuel comes out the lines.  Then tighten them all back up again and it should start.  If you still can't get fuel to come out by the injectors, then check if the electric shut-off solenoid is getting power with the key switch on.  If not, check fuses and connections.
