Tractor Repair: Case international 885XL super, piston seals, clutch disks

Question
My pto is slowing down under load and a local parts suppler has told me the pto clutch needs changing and that it is very easy to do.
can you help with the information of how to change the clutch as i have no diagram of this in my manual.

Answer
Hello,

The pto clutch must be removed through a side cover on the speed transmission.  Drain the oil, remove the pto output shaft bearing quill on the rear of the machine.  Remove the round side cover, and drive out the roll pin that holds the clutch assembly onto the shaft.  Pull the output shaft out the back, and remove the pto clutch through the side cover.  Replace the clutch disks and piston seals and reassemble in the reverse order.  Check the hydraulic pressure to the clutch.  It should be about 250 - 300 psi.
