Tractor Repair: how to convert a Ferguson to30 6 volt to a 12 volt, delco alternator, volt bulbs

Question
I read on the internet where you had emailed (or sent) another reader instructions on how to convert a Ferguson to30 from a 6 volt to a 12 volt.  I was wondering if it would be possible to send me a copy of the same.

Answer
I can't send a link to the webpage with my previous answer, so here's a copy of it:

 Hello,

The easiest way to convert is to get a Delco alternator with built-in internal regulator so there's only 2 wires to hook up to the tractor.  You can get a self-exciting alternator with only 1 wire, but they're pretty expensive. It's usually not too hard to remodel the mounting bracket to make the alternator fit.  Put a diode on the alternator field wire from the switch, or else the tractor won't shut off with the ignition switch.  Get a 12 volt ignition coil with a built in resistor, and hook the wire from the switch to + terminal on coil, and the wire to the distributor on the - terminal.  Reverse the wires on the amp gauge, or else it will work backwards.  Put in a 12 volt battery and connect it negative ground.  You don't have to do anything to the starter.  Change the light bulbs to 12 volt bulbs.  All this may sound like alot, but it's really pretty simple, and makes a big improvement over the 6 volt system.

             Good luck,
