Tractor Repair: Plows on 3000 ford, ford 3000, draft control

Question
On my ford 3000 i have 2 holes to hook top link at draft control. which should i use for turning plows? Top or bottom?

Answer
Hello,

You will have to experiment a little to find out which hole makes your plow raise and lower correctly.  If the plow does not stay parallel with the ground while it is raising or lowering, you can try moving it to the other hole.  This will change the geometry of the lift linkage to make the plow tilt more or less from front to back as it is being raised or lowered.  You may not get it to stay perfectly level with the ground, but use the hole that comes the closest and works best for you.  Using the different holes will also change the sensitivity of the draft control function of the hitch.  Again, it takes some trial and error until you find the setting that works best for the implement, soil type, plowing depth, tractor tire size, etc.
There are recommendations in the operator's manual for different implements and applications.  Most people do not have a manual for their tractor, and I always recommend that they get one.  There is lots of info in them that helps with things that are often overlooked.

I hope this reply is helpful to you.  Let me know if I can help with anything else.
