Tractor Repair: mf1970 135 engine problem, perkins diesel engine, mf 135

Question
I recently had overheating problems with 1970 mf 135 Perkins diesel engine. i replaced waterpump, thermostat, belts, had radiator cleaned and cored put back together and ran it for about an hour mowing. I did an oil change also. after about an hour of running i lost all my new oil, it was coming out the  top of the oil filter and had blowed the filter gasket. It seems to be building up head pressure and i was told it was a head gasket,, i put in a liquid glass to get by without teardown. i put in new oil and it did the same thing. now i am told it is rings broke and needs an overhaul. can you maybe give another opinion on this subject .
thank

Answer
HI Steve.
yes it sound as if your 135 is in a bad way it will probably be both of the faults you mention , in other word its clapped out.
it must have been worked very hard for this to happen. but it is not that expensive to repair and an easy engine to work on if you decide to do it yourself.
