Tractor Repair: Farmall M engine knock, oil and water, radiator

I have a m farmall. The other day I changed the oil and drained the radiator and then refilled the radiator. The tractor ran for about 3 -4 minutes when the motor developed a severe knock in the motor. The motor ran for approx. 30 seconds after the noise occurred before I could shut it down. Does anybody have any suggestions on what to do?? Thanks

I assume that it was running OK before?
What do you know about the history of the machine have you had it long.
I assume that you put the oil and water in the wright places. And not in the opposite way round. Did you put enough oil in of the wright grade ?
Can you turn the engine over without it starting ( pull stop leaver out) then swing it over.  Does it sound ok?
But it does not sound good if you do not feel up to it you better get someone to have a look at it.
