Tractor Repair: David Brown 990 Tractor, david brown 990, external linkage

Question
Hi Martin ,
the brakes on my 990 still work but are gradually getting worse .though I am an engineer I have not any experience on tractors . Normal drum or disc I can handle but I dont even know what type of system is used or if there is any adjustment available other than pedal
Any info would be much apreciated
Cheers Fred

Answer
Hi Fred
Well every thing has to ware out at some time , the manual would be a good place to start to find out what type of brakes you have. From memory i think they are inboard discs, but check .
Our sponsors can offer a manual ,and there is a vast amount of information on the WWW.
Normally the only adjustment is in the external linkage from pedal back words.
Inboard discs last very well so you could be in luck, and not have to stripe the back axle were the discs are hidden, just see the manual to find out. sometimes these come on cd and are very practical you can print up the relevant page and take it out to the tractor!
