Tractor Repair: Ford 2000 Hydraulic Problem, hydraulic problem, control lever

Question
QUESTION: I removed the nut that holds the lift control lever and removed the lift control lever to replace broken rivits holding the backplate that the lever rides on. I replaced the rivits and then the lever and nut. Now my hydraulics will not work. It was working fine before, the backplate was just loose and would not stay in place. This is around a 1970 model 2000 Ford. The shaft for the lever is squared off rather than having a key and keyway. Any idea what happened?

ANSWER: Hi Richard
This very same thing happened to my 4000 when i rebuilt it 2 years ago. but my hydraulics worked in reverse when i moved the lever down the the hydraulics came up!!!!!
Its possibly that your shaft has rotated on its axis and the internal connection is 180 degrees out.
REMOVE THE LEVER ON THE SQUARED SHAFT AND ROTATE THE SHAFT 180 DEGREES AND PUT THE OPERATING LEVER BACK IN ITS NEW POSITION.
I hope this works let me know.

QUESTION: I tried that with the same results. The lift does not move at all when I move the lever. I can move the lift up and down by hand. It has no pressure on it at all.

Answer
OK
It was worth a try.
the only other passable fault is that the connection has come adrift on he inside as you say nothing happens at all when moving the quadrant. This is to long a gob to describe here have you a manual there are several about. I doubt if you will be able to pick up the connection without having to remove the top unit of the  hydraulics.
