Cadillac Repair: 1999 cad deville, deer damage, thieft

car in for deer damage   took parts off  pulled car out  battery went dead  charged it now wont restart says genaric code 1255  thieft security   //   What would cause this

Everyone was OK when the factory installed this obsolete junk thinking that the factory was looking out for the consumer's security.

The newer the vehicle the more complicated they get and need to be serviced at the dealer. The older they get the harder to obtain parts. Personally, I look at it as a big scam to the consumer. You have the vats (vehicle anti theft stsem) and it does not prevent theft, however it sure makes things difficult for the owner for repair.

I do not know if you have a factory alarm issue or vats issue. Codes don't mean a lot to me for a 11 year old car.

Let's try the alarm first. Lock the door with the power lock switch, close the door and inlock the driver'door with the key. This resets the alarm.
