Tractor Repair: Diesel in oil, diesel injection service, crankcase oil

Question
I am in East Tennessee (USA).  The tractor in question is a Massey Ferguson 1100, year is 1971.

Last summer a small amount of diesel was obviously getting into the crankcase oil.  This year, it is severe. I suspect the injector pump may need rebuild or replacement.  What would be your diagnosis?

Answer
Bill there is 2 places the fuel can get into the sump and mix with the oil.
(1) The fuel priming pump this is the easiest place to start if the diaphram gets a hole in it then fuel will build up in the sump.
Check this one first remove the priming pump leaving the lines connected see if fuel drops on the floor when it is sitting there.
(2) The injection pump tthe seal in the front of the pump can go hard and allow fuel to go into the sump as it sits vertical in the 354 engine.
It may only be the seal and not a complete overhaul of the pump see what the diesel injection service guys say.

Hope this helps Bill have a look and let me know how you go with it.
