Tractor Repair: 65 Massey, jim hope, tractor drive

Question
I have 65 Massey Diesel. When I start it and put it in gear it wont move and makes it work hard. I think it is locked in two gears.I can move the gear shifter with no trouble and when I look in the oil fill hole the gears seem to be moving. i am wonder if something could be jammed between engine and transmission. Thanks for any help you can give me. Jim

Answer
Jim if you put the gear lever in neutral position will the tractor drive forward if yes then your are selecting 2 gears and this is why tractor won't move.
If how ever the tractor does not move and you can lift your foot off the clutch and the tractor idles ok then you have another problem.
Jim what this problem is is any bodies guess but back to the 2 gear problem.
If it has selected a gear when you are in neutral it is an easy fix first put the park brake on,and gear lever in neutral and depress the clutch to take load off the gears lift foot off the clutch.
Hop off the seat and remove the large oil fill plug and with a long scew driver slide the forks forward or back to select neutral put the plug back in and try to start and select a gear it now should drive.
Jim this is a problem that can happen as the selectors wear and yes it will happen again some time.

Jim hope this help with the problem drop me a line and let me know how it goes.
