I am in southern IL and have a Ford 5000 tractor and have replaced the motor with another Ford motor that has a CAV injection pump instead of a stock pump.  Bled system but cannot get it to start. Is there something else that I need to check or do to get it to start?  It has no manual or electrical fuel pump on the tractor.Does it need one to supply pressure to the injection pump? The tractor is a 1968 model, but not sure of motor year.

Rick the way to bleed a CAV pump is to bleed filter head first then to the pump lower bleed on side of pump and then to the one on the cover where the levers are.
Then you will need to open the injector lines and crank the engine over till fuel comes out of the lines retighten the lines and crank over till it starts if it does not start after a min or so allow the starter to cool and try again.
If all else fails and only if all else fails get hold of some starting fluid eg Aerostart and only allow the fumes to go into the air cleaner as this product can BREAK CRANKSHAFTS very easy.WHEN THE ENGINES STARTS AND RUNS STOP THE STARTING FLUID this product is also like drugs the engine can become dependent on it to start all the time.

Thank you for your reply.  I have however, tried these steps and am still unable to start the tractor.  Also, it only has one bleed screw and it is on the side of the pump. The pump number is 959, that is the only number I found on it. It does not even try to hit with starting fluid.

Answer
Rick with out being there to look at the engine to see what it is doing I am not sure where to send you now other than may be call in the mechanic from the local dealer and see what they say sorry for not being able to help any further.
