Tractor Repair: steering ball joint seperation, ford 1710, ball joint

Question
I am putting in a new clutch. I am trying to half the tractor. I can't get the steering rod to pull apart at the ball joint.I removed the nut that holds the steering rod and ball joint on the piece from the steering box but its like it is pressed in. Do I need a special tool, or what do I need to do? Its a ford 1710. 85 model.

Answer
Bruce sorry for the delay in getting this information to you.
The best way to separate the arm is to take two hammers and put one on the arm at side (NOT ON THE THREAD OK)and then hit the opposite side with the other hammer this will allow the joint to come apart as it is on a tapper.

Bruce hope this helps with your problems.
