Tractor Repair: tractor repair, wheel drive tractor, satoh tractor

Question
i have a mitsubishi satoh s630 small 25 horse 4 wheel drive tractor. parked it, let the lift down and it has not worked since. it feels as if something is loose when you pull the lever up there is no friction or resistance i changed the fluid and cleaned the filter, but nothing happened. how hard is it to get in to the top and see if something is loose? i know you are for MF tractors, but thought you may have some advise.

Answer
Hi Bobby
It has been over 25 years since I have done any work on a Satoh tractor & I don't remember a lot about them. Your problem sounds like you may have a stuck valve in the hydraulic system. The best I remember those have what is called an unloading valve that when the control valve is moved to lower the lift the unloading valve opens to let the pressure flow from the lift cylinder. all of the controls for that system is built into the liftcover I don't remember having to do anything before removing the liftcover except disconnecting the line from the pump & removing the bolts. the dealer I worked for up to 1979 was a Satoh dealer.
