Triumph Repair: car not starting after clutch replacement, transmisison rebuild, clutch

Question
I just rebuilt the transmission, replaced the clutch, and
replaced the slave cylinder on my 1977 spitfire.
unfortunately, i can not longer get the car to start. it tries
to start, but there is a scraping? sound that was not there
before. what did i do wrong?

Answer
Rob,

A scraping sound suggests that either something that rotates in the front of the engine which should have had some clearance to the items around it (like the alternator, etc) maybe has been shifted a bit.

Or when you replaced the transmission possibly a bolt or other object is now in a position where the flywheel is hitting it.

Best advice is to get a friend to try starting the car while you listen around the engine compartment for the source of the noise.

Cheers,

Jim
