Triumph Repair: 1978 Spits 1500 carb, spitfire 1500, vacuum test

Question
Which Weber carb will fit with to replace the Zenith that I
currently have.  The Zenith will start the car but runs
rough and will not accelerate nor will any of the
adjustments do anything.  What are the standard adjustments
and where are they?  I just bought the car, love it, but I
believe it needs new carb since I can't seem to get it to
work, please help.

Answer
Hi Harold,
There are Weber conversions available but you need the manifold too. Search the Internet for Weber conversion for a Spitfire 1500 to check best prices.

However, there are dozens of things that can make a car do what symptoms you have besides a carburetor problem. There are several tests that need to be run or you may end up with a Weber and the same problem. Unless you have a large bank account you can easily run out of money tossing parts at a problem before you know what is wrong.

At least run a compression test and a vacuum test before purchasing the Weber conversion.
