Triumph Repair: 1972 Spitfire(actually a 74 with 72 motor), adjustable rods, cylinder rod

Question
Howard. Is there a way to adjust the clutch on a Spitfire. My cluch is catchig high up as I let the clutch out.-but doesnt seem to be slipping. Thanks . Jim.

Answer
Hi Jim,
Some master cylinders had an adjustable push rod but for a Spitfire to engage up high is the opposite to what was all too common on the Spitfires and that was they would engage just off the floor and were difficult to get released so you had to press hard to the floor to get it to release.

I never seen any adjustable rods on original cylinders but seen them on other cars and a master cylinder rod can easily be changed to an adjustable rod from some other kind of car.

Right now you have what everyone else wants.
