Triumph Repair: Convertible tops, Spitfire, 1500

Hello Jim, I am going to replace the soft top on my 1979 spitfire 1500 thru a local installer in Kankakee, Illinois. They claim there is no top listed for a Spitfire 1500! Is the top for the Spitfire Mark IV the same as for the 1500? I don't want to pay for the wrong one! Great web site!!!

Yes, the Mk IV (1971-1972 US, 1971-1974 rest of world) soft top is the same as on the 1500s.   The Mk 3 top is similar but the rear edge of the door glass has a larger radius curve.

Just be careful when ordering to specify the year.  The Spitfire MK 1s are sometimes referred to as "Spitfire4", that was the original badging on the car.   As opposed to the Mk IV.
