Land Rover Repair: 1995 land rover discovery lost power after changing starter, land rover discovery, starter solenoid

Question
Hi John I have two landrovers and having the same trouble from both the first land rover 96 year discovery i changed the plugs it ran good prior to this it was just due for new plugs used champion plugs checked firing order and its correct but miss firing and has no power do you think i may have knocked loose a vacuum line? The 95 discovery changed the starter an now its doing the same thing too please any advice is greatly appreciated!

Answer
Hi Casey,

on the '96, I'd check the plugs again, making sure the gap is set correctly on ALL of them.  I'd then check the wires to make sure they are seated correctly (snug fit to plug) and distributor.  Just one bad HT lead can give you misfires.  Lack of power could be spark related - what other work did you do around the '96?  Make sure wires are new, seated tight, distributor is working ok.

As for the '95 Disco, make sure the main lead wire to starter solenoid is clean and tightly connected.  Check timing on both Disco's - make sure you have enough spark AND fuel is being delivered.

Best of luck,
JohnMc
