Triumph Repair: slave cylinder, clutch master cylinder, bleeder valve

Question
I am in the process of replacing the clutch master cylinder for my 1971 spitfire, but noticed that the slave cylinder bleed nipple is on the bottom of the fluid pipe. As I understand, the bleeder has to be on top of the pipe for the system to bleed properly. Can I just loosen the pinch-bolt and rotate the slave cylinder 180 degrees so I can have the bleeder on top, or will that damage the connection the slave has to the clutch? Thanks.

Answer
Hi Nathan,
There is no connection between the clutch and the slave cylinder. It is just a pin in a recess in the slave piston so it can be rotated. If your line fitting is different than your bleeder valve fitting you will be able to just loosen the line fitting and rotate it. (unless your cylinder only has a notch and not a grove all the way around the cylinder. If the fittings are the same you can just switch holes. You are correct that the bleeder should be on top.
