Triumph Repair: TR6 intake manifold, pin holes, hose adapter

Question
I have a '75 TR6 that acquired a couple of months ago. Until yesterday it not been started since '82. I have replaced all of the hoses and other obvious things. When it warmed up I noticed a pinhole leak in the hose adapter between the intake manifold and the hose nearest the firewall. Is the adapter a part that can be replaced or do I need a replacement intake manifold?

Thanks,
John.

Answer
HI John,
If you are talking about the steel pipe sticking out of the rear of the intake manifold, That is part of the manifold and not replaceable. If the leak is in the steel pipe itself you can just weld the hole up. If it is between the steel pipe and the aluminum manifold you can remove the manifold and put a vacuum on the pipe and apply a sealer on the area where the leak is and the vacuum will tend to force the sealer into the pin hole. Without a vacuum on the pipe the sealer will just sit on the surface and not make a good seal. I don't know exactly where you get the sealer but it is used to seal pin holes in alloy manifolds. Possibly auto machine shops will have a source.
