Triumph Repair: opening hood, hi bob, hook

1974 TR6 - Pulled latch to open hood, it became unattached under the hood. Battery disconnected, can't open hood, can't move car. Is there a way to get the hood open without taking the car apart?

Hi Bob,
If your cable has broken or come loose the only thing I know to do is to try prying the right rear corner of the hood up enough to put a long rod with a hook bent in the end in it to try to fish for the lever to pull on it. You have to be careful because the battery is near by and you wouldn't want to snag a battery post with a metal rod. You will not be able to pry the rear center of the hood up without damaging the hood. If you have an owners manual or shop manual you should look for a picture of the latch to see what you are fishing for.
