Triumph Repair: Spit 1500 Vin # plate, vin plate, rust bucket

Question
Hey there!
I read a recent question and answer by "Jim" relating to 1500 vin location. I
have a 1980 1500 with correct windscreen frame and B post numbers, but
the car also has holes at the earlier model location (Left side wall above body
number plate). One originality book I have shows a "vin plate" here with "BL
Cars Ltd." on the top of the plate.....could these holes have been empty.....or
was it common to have an additional plate here as well as the B post plate??

Answer
I don't believe so; I've seen others mount their comm # plates at this location, but all the spits I've seen only have the body # plate at this location.  The 1980 I once had had the door sill plate and the windshield plate, nothing by the body plate.  The same for the 76 rust bucket parts car I finished tearing down; nothing extra there.
