Triumph Repair: Triumph spitfire clutch and slave cylinder bleeding, triumph spitfire, slave cylinder

Question
Hi, I have a '79 spitfire and I was having trouble with the clutch bleeding down. I replaced the master cylinder and the slave cylinder and cannot keep the system bled. The peddle pumps up and pushes out the fluid but when I try to put it in gear it wont go.It does go in gear when it is not running. The clutch did work before I made the changes. I have gravity bled it and put a jar at the end of a hose with brake fluid in it so I didn't put air in the line and did this more than one time on each one and cannot get it to work,
I really hope you can help. This should not be so difficult.
Thanks, Mike

Answer
When you look at the slave and the clutch throwout arm, how much does it move?
It could be numerous things about how the slave is installed; I would suggest checking for adequate movement, and if you don't seem movement, remove and reinstall the slave,  You could have the pin that sits on the slave plunger binding, or the slave not fully seated to the bell housing.  If you see some movement, but not enough, then it is likely the slave still needs to be bled.  Do you have the bleeder on the top of the slave or bottom of the slave?
