Triumph Repair: Core Plug (freeze), TR6, core plug

Question
I just had the engine of my TR6 rebuilt. The engine has zero miles, but as I was breaking it in, running it at 1500-2000 rpm after about 15 minutes there was a small, small leak from the left side front core (freeze) plug. luckily I only had water in the radiator. The leak is very tiny and is at the 1 o'clock position of the plug. But it shot a stream of water out for a few minutes after I stopped the engine, so I suspect that there is alot of pressure there.
My question is: Since it is a new freeze plug and a tiny leak would it be ok to seal it with gasket maker material or should I just replace it and hope that the new plug fits better?

Thank you.

Answer
Carl,

I doubt you'd be able to seal it with anything short of epoxy, although epoxy might work.

You might try tapping the plug in just a bit to see if it'll seal better.

Otherwise, time for a new plug. While it's out, make sure there's not corrosion where the plug sits, or you'll continue to have problems with the plug sealing.

Cheers,
