Triumph Repair: Differential Mount Bushings, nylock nuts, rubber bushes

Question
Hi Howard,

I plan to re-install the rebuilt differential in my 1966 TR4A next week.  The rubber mount bushings which came out look excellent. However, the holes in the rubber bushes are a fair bit larger than the mounting pins they slide over. This leaves about a 1/16" in gap b/t bushing and pin.  I am concerned this will lead to significant play.  Am I missing a metal sleeve or anything? I would have expected the bushing to fit tight over the pin with no play.

Thanks

Bob

Answer
Hi Bob,
I don't remember any sleeve in the upper and lower mounting bushings. As I remember they did squeeze down to tighten up on the studs as you compressed the rubber and the nuts were nylock nuts so they did not need to stop although you should look at the studs to see if they have a shoulder on them. I could not find any sleeves listed and I don't remember any.
