Triumph Repair: spitfire 1500, weber dgv, spitfire triumph

i have a 1973 spitfire triumph. I have had new pistons, and cylinders bored and i have the cylynder head redone and so forth. problem is, i dont know if spending that much money on redoing this is good. would it be much simpler to buy a new engine(it can be used) and putting it in there? i would like to know what engine would work if i was to, maybe somthing more higher performance orinted and also better MPG? i have had the zenith-stromberg re-built but i heard those suck. i dont know, i guess morale is low, everything that could go wrong is going wrong. any suggestions?

Have hope.  

Most engine swaps are done very expensively, as nothing really fits easily or without alot of customization.  A properly tuned 1500 with a ZS can do just fine for normal street driving.
Most people have problems with a ZS because they don't know or want to tune them.  A swap to a Weber DGV is easy as pie, if you want something more "controllable"

Most who have swapped engines have gone a GT6 engine or a V6, very few 4cylinder swaps.
