Triumph Repair: 1980 Spitfire starter solenoid, starter solenoid, electronic gizmo

Question

Where does the starter Where and how does the starter solenoid mount on my 1980 Spitfire? Previous owner mounted an odd one on the firewall where other cars appear to have a black box electronic gizmo. Some photos show solenoid behind the coil, but there is no bracket.

Hi Tom,
Normally US versions had the solenoid mounted down beside the battery but it looks like someone has been replacing wires on it so it may not fit there now. There is nothing wrong with where you have it if you would just put one more mounting screw in it.
