I recently had to tear down my non tilt steering column yesterday to repair that rediculous half moon actuator on my 87 f350 superduty 4x2 1 ton 460 5 speed manual what a fun fun adventure doing that for the first time ever my problem now is when i put everything back together my blinkers dont cancel and when i turn the wheel my horn blows but when the pad is hooked up it doesnt ut also feels like im not hitting any stops in the wheel where did i go wrong everything else works great and the truck runs please help

Answer
Hi Lee:
Sorry about your issues.
The canceling system and the horn contact is the plastic portion on the back of the steering wheel.  There is a small spring loaded pin on the rotating center piece of the turn signal switch that needs to set into the steering wheel.  this controls the canceling portion.  there are also two spring loaded studs that rise up form the turn signal switch.  those are your horn contacts.  Make sure all of these three spring loaded pieces are hitting where they need to.

(After the fact)
We have recently uploaded pages and a description of how to rebuild the upper portion of a Ford steering column.  They are broken down into step by step detailed instructions on our website. Although the example is for a 1991 Ford Truck, the column is identical to yours
