Triumph Repair: 1970 TR 6 Tachometer, recepticle, tr 6

Question
My Tachometer just stopped working after making a clicking noise the week prior. The connections feel solid. What could be the cause? I am the original owner and it has always been garaged. Thanks

Answer
I would suspect 1 of 2 things:

-The square end of the cable, or the square recepticle is worn such that it is no longer square
- The internal part of the speed-o has failed.

I would say if the cable & socket look square, then the problem is internal.  I've not torn apart  a speedo with the intent to repair it, so I'm sorry to say I can't help much more than that.

Pull the speed cable out from the speedo head, and see if you can twist the cable.  You should not be able to spin it, so that should eliminate the cable from consideration...

Good luck.
