Triumph Repair: spitfire clutch master cylinder, clutch master cylinder, circlip

Question
Hi.Scott thank you so much for the info. However after duct taping an air hose to the master cylinder the piston still did not go past where the circlip is supose to be.Should the piston be in there so tight.I can't push it forward either. It did work before so I don't know.

Answer
There may be corrosion on the bore or piston that is preventing it from exiting.  That, or when someone removed the circlip, they accidentally put a burr or rasied edge on the circlip groove.

You can try more force, to remove the raised edge,  to punch it deeper in the bore to free it up, or more pressure to force it out, but you run the risk of damage and injury.  If you don't have the tools or patience to do that, I would suggest getting a replacement cylinder and scrapping this one.  If the bore is corroded, its likely not worth the effort to bore & sleeve the cylinder wall, anyway.
